A compost and brush collection site—located next to the “Orange City Welcome” signs on Highway 10 W—is provided for Orange City residents at no charge. Grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, trees, and brush can be disposed of at this site.
The north pile is the compost site. Grass clippings, garden waste, leaves, and other compostable materials may be dumped here. Please remove all waste material from plastic or paper bags.
The south pile is the tree & brush site. Tree branches, shrubs, and other larger debris are allowed on this pile. Please separate compost and brush material to ensure they are disposed of on the proper pile.
Garbage, lumber, building materials, concrete, large root balls, tree stumps, and other waste are not allowed at the compost & brush site.
The waste material is collected, composted, and applied to local farm fields to eliminate landfill costs. The brush pile is chipped periodically by a contractor at no cost to the City, and in turn is able to sell the wood chips.
The Orange City compost and brush site is open all daylight hours for your convenience.
Please observe the following rules:
- All waste must be removed from plastic or paper bags
- Other waste or garbage is NOT permitted
The Orange City compost and brush site is monitored by Iowa DNR officials, so any violations could jeopardize this public service. Should you observe any violations, please contact the City of Orange City at 712-707-4885.
